Seis décadas de história estão representadas nesta mostra, com parte do acervo do Instituto para as Relações Culturais Internacionais (IFA) da Alemanha, trazida pelo Goethe-Institut à cidade: cerca de 400 obras de arte produzidas ao longo de 60 anos, na Alemanha. A exposição conta a história tanto do país dividido (1945-1989), ao término da Segunda Guerra Mundial, quanto da nação reunificada. E inova ao colocar lado a lado os olhares de Leste e Oeste - República Federal da Alemanha e República Democrática da Alemanha.
